Lower cost products use lighter gauges of materials (thinner metal) and smaller cross-sectional shapes and post sizes. Usually 1″ rails, 1/2″ or 5/8″ pickets, 1 ½″ posts

Heavier material thicknesses and larger cross-sectional shapes for added strength. Usually 1 ½″ and 2″ rails, 3/4″ or 1″ pickets and 2″ or greater posts.

Regional suppliers and national manufacturers provide higher quality, proprietary designs with extended warranties. Costs will be higher and lead times may vary, but the time-value of your investment makes this a reasonable consideration.
